How to check if a supplement is Informed Sport certified

Search the batch number, not the logo: Informed Sport's own search and app, USADA's warning on misused logos, and what an unlisted batch means.

To check if a supplement is Informed Sport certified, find the batch or lot number on the pack and search it on Informed Sport’s product search at sport.wetestyoutrust.com, or scan the barcode in its app. Match the exact product and batch. USADA warns that a certification logo on the label is not proof on its own.

This is an evergreen how-to. On 3 October 2026 this desk read Informed Sport’s athlete page, USADA’s logo advisory and a third-party registry tracker.

How do I check if a supplement is Informed Sport certified?

  1. Find the batch number. USADA says it is sometimes on the bottom with the expiration date.
  2. Search it. Informed Sport’s athlete page says its product search takes batch/lot number, brand, formulation, region and supplement goal, and tells athletes to “search for the batch number on our website”.
  3. Or scan it. The same page says the app carries a UPC or EAN barcode scanner.
  4. Match both. The product and batch on screen must match the tub.

Is the Informed Sport logo enough on its own?

No. USADA’s advisory says third-party certification logos are being misused, and that you must verify the product and batch in the certifier’s database or with the certifier directly. Its examples are NSF ones, including an NSF notice about certain Gatorade products. The wider argument: certification is a batch claim, not a brand claim.

What if my batch number is not on Informed Sport?

Then this search has not confirmed it. Informed Sport’s athlete page text gives no procedure for that case; USADA’s general advice is to confirm with the certifier directly.

The tracker, Verified Supplement Data, says “a listed flavour or size does not certify the others” and puts the registry at 2,105 listings from 572 brands as of 25 August 2026, a different figure from the app counts below. Only the batch search answers. Informed Choice is a different mark.

FAQ

Where is the batch number on a supplement?

It varies. USADA’s advisory says the batch, also called the lot number, is sometimes on the bottom of the product along with the expiration date. Whatever the spot, search the number printed on the tub in your hand, not one from a product photo.

Does Informed Sport test every batch?

That is Informed Sport’s own claim. Its athlete page says it tests every single batch of a product before release to market, and tells athletes to search the batch number to confirm their exact product was tested. Those are the certifier’s words about itself; this desk tested nothing.

Is there an Informed Sport app?

Yes. Informed Sport’s athlete page describes a mobile app with a UPC or EAN barcode scanner, 1500+ certified products, 330+ brands and tested lot or batch numbers. The page is undated and its footer reads 2025, so treat those counts as the certifier’s figures, not a live total.

Nothing here is medical advice or evaluated by the FDA. Under strict liability, USADA notes, athletes answer for any prohibited substance in their body, even one from a contaminated supplement. Certification reduces that risk; it does not remove it.
